Why? Because I change them so often. Characters in my story are in a constant set of flux; I’ll tweak background stories, special abilities (if any), the way they’ll respond to a situation… a whole plethora of stat tweaks goes on while I’m writing a novel, and even after I’ve finished rough draft.
On one hand, this makes for Tony the Tiger style GRRREEAAT stuff, but on the other hand it means that I have to keep going back and editing like a mad man just to keep pace with my awesomeness. The Awesome-Train stops for NOBODY. The last guy to try and set up a roadblock woke up in Kansas surrounded by little dancing Munchkins.
Christopher “Valentine” Gray, the star of my MAGNUM OPUS (or: first book series), has had his background changed at least 12 times. I finally wrote up what I hope is the definitive version like 3 months ago.
That’s funny, considering I was working on another project entirely when it came to me, a sudden thunder-crack of wtf that’s great that came without warning and left a series of “?!?!?” over my head.
In any event, my fingernails are growing too long and are interfering with my typing. Also, my body is tired. I feel like I’m falling apart. C’mon, Health Care Reform. Make that shit affordable.
I hope that when I click the pretty publish button for this post, that I’ll immediately clip my nails and then start writing. If I can get my mojo goin’.
